The theme for 2022 Pride month is "Politics in Art: The Arc is Long"
2022 marks the 50th anniversary for Pride and the theme this year is “Politics in Art: The Arc is Long.” The quote comes directly from Martin Luther King, Jr. - The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice. This theme honors many artists' and activists’ contributions to the LGBTQ+ movement.
According to Inclusive Employers, five individuals are chosen every year to reflect the LGBTQ+ History Month theme. This year, we celebrate the following 5 artists:
- Mark Aguhar, 1987-2012 (they/them)
- Jean-Michel Basquiat, 1960-1988 (he/him)
- Keith Haring, 1958 -1990 (he/him)
- Fiore de Herniquez, 1921-2004 (she/her)
- Doris Brabham Hatt, 1890 – 1969 (she/her)
