Mobile-friendly recruitment is something that HR should not ignore. According to research from Purdue University, Millennials and Gen Z will make up the majority of the workforce in 2025. Because they are digital natives and pioneers, technology is incorporated into all aspects of their life - both personal and professional. Smart devices are the primary means of accessing information and data, as well as submitting job applications.
Furthermore, life is fast-paced and constantly on the go. Convenience is something we need to consider as HR professionals because you want to make it as easy as possible to attract (and retain) candidates. Younger generations expect the recruitment process to be seamless and fast. Put yourself in a candidate’s shoes - how frustrating would it be to try and apply for a position when you can’t even see the entire application on your mobile screen? Remember that people are becoming increasingly visual.
For those of you who are not in UX/UI :) the way a website appears on a desktop is vastly different from how it looks on a mobile device. Make sure you have an awesome team to help you structure things to make the most sense. Be forewarned: you will be judged for your appearances! If you don’t have a UX/UI team, utilize job posting sites like LinkedIn and Indeed, which already have all the tools you need in place for low subscription costs.
