  • What is purpose? How would you describe it?
    • Reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc.
  • Why is having a purpose important?
    • Guides how we show up individually and thrive as part of a community; authenticity

  • What is shared purpose at work? 
    • Provides context for goals, product or service, and/or charitable giving.
      • Example: At PERKS, we believe “unique people need unique support” - impacts business decisions, content shared, etc.
    • An organization embodies its shared purpose through its mission, values, and culture
    • Having shared purpose → efficiency and productivity (at the organizational level)
      • What actions or results should we see when an organization understands its shared purpose?
  • When to talk about shared purpose? (e.g. V2MOM, orientation/onboarding)
    • It's a conversation that should always be had as your team grows.
    • For PERKS, part of the onboarding process because we want our new team members to learn the language and environment. 
  • Organizations are made up of different people from all walks of life. How does an organization identify a shared purpose?
    • Relationship between employee engagement and social responsibility (Percent Pledge)
    • Practicing empathy and human component of culture
    • Volunteering and charitable work helps a team align with their shared purpose at work, but also society

    • Reduces fear and shifts to a position of curiosity
    • Avoids relying on a charismatic leader to inspire - motivation comes from within
